PSSC Meeting – June 1^st, 2021

Attendance:  Cathy Lloyd – Principal, Kent Carter – Chair, Tammy O’Connor – Home & School President, Stacey Morneault – Teacher representative, Dominic Vautour – DEC representative

Slideshow highlights presented by Cathy:

• The parking lot has been placed on the district Capital plan for 2022 – first on the list.
• Parking lot building plan has been developed.
• Informed of staff members that are leaving.
• “Recovery” plan for September 2021 discussed for middle school English.  Intervention block for first term to include ELA and math focus to address academic decline due to missed instruction with Covid.
• Provincial assessments this year for grades 4 & 6.  Results will be skewed due to missed instruction, students on individualized plans, new students and students that moved away.
• Transition planning for MHS.  Videos for grade 8’s to watch for a tour of MHS.  Guidance from MHS will visit our school to meet with students and school visits planned for students on individualized plans with their parents.  
• Cathy and Tammy presented to the Rotary of Shediac for new playground. 
• Next step for new playground is to develop a building plan with estimated cost.  A parent playground committee will be set up and applications for grant money will begin shortly after building plan is developed. 

Questions/Discussion points:

• Concerns for speed limit in school zone and wanting to get the speed limit reduced.  An attempt was made to have this passed a few years ago with no success. School will enquire further.
